African women innovators, entrepreneurs to be honoured

Cape Town - The inaugural Africa Women Innovation and Entrepreneurship Forum (AWIEF) Awards will take place at a gala dinner during the 3rd AWIEF Conference and Exhibition taking place on 5 and 6 October 2017 at the Century City Conference Centre in Cape Town.

Trine Skymoen, Norway's ambassador to South Africa, Botswana, Madagascar and Namibia, will be the keynote speaker at the gala event.

There are 21 finalists in the various awards categories:

Young entrepreneur:

  • Abisola Ijalana, M12 Photography (Nigeria)
  • Hyasintha Ntuyeko, Kasole Secrets (Tanzania)
  • Refilwe Sebothoma, PBM Creations (South Africa)

Tech entrepreneur:

  • Aisha Pandor, SweepSouth.com (South Africa)
  • Annette Muller, FLEXY (South Africa)
  • Temie Giwa–Tubosun, LifeBank (Nigeria)

Agri entrepreneur:

  • Mame Khary Diene, Bioessence Laboratories (Senegal)
  • Sonia Paiva, Woman Farmer Foundation (Swaziland)
  • Jacqueline Mkindi, Tanzania Horticultural Association (Tanzania)

Empowerment award:

  • Karine Sar, Deline’s Gift (Senegal)
  • Mary Olushoga, African Women Power (AWP) Network (Nigeria)
  • Sabetha Mwambenja, Covenant Bank for Women (Tanzania)

Global brand award:

  • Deola Sagoe, House of Deola (Nigeria)
  • Oke Maduewesi, Zaron International (Nigeria)
  • Swaady Martin, YSWARA (South Africa)

Social entrepreneur:

  • Barbara Mallinson, Obami (South Africa)
  • Ndidi Nwuneli, LEAP Africa (Nigeria)
  • Tracey Chambers, The Clothing Bank (South Africa)

Lifetime Achievement:

  • Stella Okoli, Emzor Pharmaceutical Industries (Nigeria)
