Johannesburg - Nedbank announced that it is partnering with the Branson Centre of Entrepreneurship.
Nedbank has provided R1m to the Branson Centre, to enable 50 budding entrepreneurs at the centre to participate in entrepreneurial development for the year 2014.
"Nedbank’s strategic intent is to partner with small businesses to grow and create job opportunities in order to contribute to SA's economy," said Kandis Swanepoel of Nedbank's Strategic Business Unit.
"The Centre offers entrepreneurs extraordinary insights and exposure to the world of business, providing the entrepreneur with exposure to experts such as the founder himself Sir Richard Branson."
According to Virgin Group CEO Joe Bayliss the South African economy and the rest of Africa can benefit from an entrepreneurial culture and enabling environment to create future economic growth, jobs and access to new markets globally.
"We encourage aspirant entrepreneurs to engage with a community of mentors, role models, industry experts and business networks including investors with both national and international links," said Bayliss.
He said that an impact study conducted by the Branson Centre has shown a direct link to business growth for businesses that have gone through incubation, training and development.
