Cape Town - Small and medium sized enterprises (SMEs) looking for fresh skills can try the Graduate Asset Programme (GAP).
"Building on our own experience of using capable graduates to bring fresh energy and skills into our business, we have developed the GAP-internship programme, specifically with the needs of SMEsin mind," says Catherine Wijnberg, founder of Fetola.
Fetola is a South African enterprise development programme supported by Old Mutual.
"The GAP portal offers a free and user-friendly matching tool to help organisations find the perfect intern, and also provides a wealth of resources and practical support for both business and graduate," she says.
GAP is Fetola's way of sharing the lessons learnt over the last five years in its quest to boost the small business sector through affordable skills and resources.
"GAP is about providing real, practical work experience for South African graduates who are ready to step out into the world of work," she says.
"By placing graduates into small businesses, GAP meets two important needs. Firstly, the business gains much needed resources in the form of young, energetic and committed people and secondly, GAP allows graduates to gain exposure to real work."
