Ian Reid

IAN REED is originally a mining engineer, and was an assistant general manager of a large South African gold mine, with a turnover of over  R100m per month, controlling over 14 000 highly unionised employees, through five senior divisional heads.

His expertise, along with a degree in commerce, and a master’s degree in business administration, helped him in 1993 to start and develop Platinum Black, a professional consulting and management business, focused on structuring businesses for sustainable growth and profitability.

Platinum Black, situated in Cape Town, has a permanent staff of 4 highly qualified employees, and specialises in business assessments, restructuring, business optimisation and business turnarounds.

Although 90% of Platinum Black's clients are already successful, they know they can do better. "We do that for them."

Platinum Black also has extensive experience in start-ups, with Ian's expertise being in medium size business development with specific attention to strategy, business structure, cash flow optimisation and management.

Essentially, Platinum Black has been in operation for 18 years, and engages in change management and restructuring of small and medium sized businesses to create sustainable growth and ongoing profitability.
