The UK submitted a formal request to exit the European Union, invoking Article 50 of the Treaty on European Union (EU), EU President Donald Tusk said.
Britain’s ambassador to the EU, Tim Barrow, on Wednesday submitted the letter signed by UK Prime Minister Theresa May, starting the clock on two years of exit negotiations.
"After nine months, the UK has delivered," Tusk said, in a posting on Twitter.
