Cape Town – Manufacturing production increased 0.9% year-on-year for September after contracting by a revised -0.3% in August, Statistics South Africa said on Tuesday.
The largest positive contributions were made by petroleum, chemical products, rubber, plastic products, and food and beverages.
“Seasonally adjusted manufacturing production increased by 2.2% in September 2015 compared with August 2015. This followed month-on-month changes of 0.6% in August 2015 and 0% in July 2015,” Stats SA said.
Seasonally adjusted manufacturing production rose by 1.4% in the third quarter of 2015, compared with the second quarter.
According to Stats SA, eight of the ten manufacturing divisions reported positive growth rates over this period.
