The SA Revenue Service announced on Tuesday that it had appointed Johnstone Makhubu as its permanent chief officer for finance.
Makhubu, who joined the tax agency from Eskom in 2016 as as group executive responsible for procurement, was previously appointed the role of chief officer for finance in an acting capacity in August 2017. He took over from Matsobane Matlwa, who resigned.
During his time at Eskom, Makhubu was appointed as the state-owned enterprise's head of business enablement, and was responsible for its commercial finance unit, said SARS.
This was later extended to cover the supply chain management risk and governance unit.
Makhubu holds a bachelor of science degree in engineering from the University of KwaZulu-Natal and a bachelor of commerce degree in supply chain and operations management from Unisa. He also holds a master of Business Leadership from Unisa's school of business leadership. He is completing his PhD from the University of Pretoria.
