Eskom: No load shedding expected on Tuesday

Feb 17 2020 07:00

Eskom says it is not planning to implement power cuts on Tuesday, after a day free of load shedding on Monday.

This comes after the power utility halted stage 2 load shedding ahead of schedule at 9 p.m. on Sunday.

However, it reminded customers that the system remains vulnerable and load shedding could be implemented at short notice if there were any changes in system performance. It urged consumers to use electricity sparingly.

Unplanned outages were at 10 460 MW at 16:50, with planned maintenance at 5 216 MW.

The cash-strapped utility has warned of an increased likelihood of power cuts over the next 18 months as it conducts maintenance on its fleet of ageing power plants.
