Cape Town - Parliament's ethics committee has recommended that ANC MP Pule Mabe be fined for benefiting from a contract with a state-owned enterprise.
This comes after Mabe was implicated in irregularities at the embattled Passenger Rail Association of South Africa (Prasa).
The committee said on Wednesday they had recommended that the National Assembly dock Mabe's salary by 15 days and that he be reprimanded in the House.
"Mabe was found to have breached the code from having benefited from the extension of a contract between Prasa and KGP Media in 2015," chairperson Amos Masondo said at a press conference.
According to Public Protector Thuli Madonsela's damning report, Derailed, Mabe's company KG Media was "improperly" awarded a R33m communication deal.
Masondo said the sanctions imposed were provided for in the code.
The sanctions and findings are subject to approval by the National Assembly.
