Johannesburg - Consumer price inflation eased to 4.8% for October, data from Statistics SA revealed.
This is down from 5.1% reported for September 2017.
On average, prices increased by 0.3% between September 2017 and October 2017, said Stats SA.
Inflation for miscellaneous goods and services increased by 7.2% year-on-year (y/y), and its contribution to overall inflation decreased to 1.1 percentage points.
Food inflation increased by 0.7% month-on-month (m/m) and contributed 0.1 of a percentage point to October inflation.
Transport prices increased 0.9% m/m, contributing 0.1 of a percentage point to October inflation.
The inflation for goods increased by an annual rate of 4.1%, down from the annual rate of 4.4% reported in September. Inflation for services increased by 5.5,% y/y, down from 5.8% reported in September.
