The City of Cape Town plans maintenance for its electricity payment vending system in mid-January, which means prepaid electricity units will be offline.
According to a statement issued by the City on Tuesday, the maintenance will be carried out from 22:00 on Monday, January 20 until 04:00 on Tuesday, January 21.
The City has asked residents to make sure they have sufficient electricity units already loaded before the maintenance of the system takes place.
"City of Cape Town prepaid electricity customers will not be able to purchase electricity during this time. Please ensure that you have sufficient units in your meter prior to this period," the City's mayoral committee member for energy and climate change, councillor Phindile Maxiti said.
