Cape Town - Global infrastructure leaders are gathering this May in Johannesburg for a series of think-tank discussions designed to propel African development through infrastructure finance.
Damane Hlalele, director at Arup, Vibhuti Jain, Esq. financial solutions lead at Power Africa USAID, and McKinsey & Company partner Kannan Lakmeeharan are a few of the leaders who will be contributing to think-tank discussions on revitalising Africa’s climate for infrastructure investment that will be held at the 3rd annual Captains of Construction and Infrastructure Leadership Forum.
The Captains of Construction and Infrastructure Leadership Forum is an African leadership initiative designed to mobilise finance for infrastructure delivery across the sub-Saharan region. As the official knowledge partner for the Leadership Forum, global consulting company McKinsey & Company will draw on its recent research and insights on infrastructure financing and development in Africa to guide the content and direction of these scheduled leadership discussions.
“If we are to support the African growth story, we need to figure out how to scale up financing and build local capabilities,” said Lakmeeharan in a recent interview.
“If we do not figure out how to scale up local capabilities, those countries that are helping to execute projects in Africa will build up the expertise and Africa will lose out.”
The Captains of Construction and Infrastructure Leadership Forum convenes over 100 C-level professionals operating across Africa’s built environment to take part in a series of strategic debates on infrastructure development and delivery in the sub-Saharan region.
