Jo'burg residents have had to contend with outages above and beyond scheduled load shedding, as power trips continue to hit multiple areas in the city.
On Friday afternoon, an Anderson St East distributor tripped, causing an outage in central Johannesburg, City Power said.

Johannesburg has been experiencing multiple outages in the wake of load shedding. MMC for Environment and Infrastructure Services Nico de Jager has previously said load shedding has had a "disastrous" effect on the city's infrastructure.
"As one of the biggest utilities depending on power supply from Eskom, City Power is being severely affected by unprecedented load shedding. The reality is that both financial and operational damage is being done, and this will be felt even after load shedding stops," he said.
"Rebooting the power grids is to the detriment of already aged infrastructure and will lead to a failure risk of said infrastructure."
On Thursday evening, City Power Johannesburg alerted the public of outages in the West of the city via its Twitter account. According to the City, a number of distributors tripped, including the distributor supplying Lenasia and the surrounds.
Affected areas included Roodepoort and surrounds such as Florida, Wilro Park, Strubens Valley, Little Falls and Weltevreden Park.
By 7:50pm, the City said power had been restored to some areas.
The northern parts of the city faced power outages over the weekend due to an explosion at Brynorth power station, in Bryanston, Fin24 previously reported.
