Johannesburg - South Africa's net gold and foreign exchange reserves fell to $42.727bn in December from $42.946bn in November, data from the SA Reserve Bank (Sarb) showed on Thursday.
Gross reserves were higher at $49.102bn from $48.54bn, while the forward position, which represents the central bank's unsettled or swap transactions, eased to $1.975bn from $2.894bn.
