Johannesburg - Manufacturing output increased by 5.4% year-on-year in volume terms in July from a revised 0.5% in June, Statistics South Africa said on Wednesday.
On a month-on-month basis, factory production rose 5% and was up 2.2% in the three months to July compared with the preceding period.
Economists polled by Reuters had predicted year-on-year growth of 1.5% for June. Statistics SA has revised the base year to 2010 from 2005, affecting previous data.
