Another petrol price hike

Cape Town - The price of petrol (95ULP) will increase by 10c a litre at the coast and 12c/l in Gauteng, with effect from midnight on Tuesday.

The wholesale price of diesel with a sulphur content of 0.05% will rise by 7c and 9c a litre respectively, and that of diesel with a sulphur content of 0.005% by 8c and 10c/l, the energy department said in a statement on Wednesday.

The wholesale price of illuminating paraffin would increase by 30c/l at the coast and 26c in Gauteng.

During the period under review, the average international product prices of petrol, diesel, and illuminating paraffin decreased, but the average rand/US dollar exchange rate weakened.

Also taken into account were the 23c/l increase in the fuel and Road Accident Fund levies which Finance Minister Pravin Gordhan announced in the Budget in February, the department said.
