Bloemfontein - Trevor Manuel says South Africa is stuck with him.
Earlier this week Manuel, Minister in the Presidency and one of the architects of the country’s national development plan (NDP), declined a nomination to the ANC’s National Executive Committee.
It was considered a sign that he may be off to pastures abroad. He has been linked to the World Bank in the past.
On Wednesday morning Manuel was asked if he remains committed to South Africa, and whether he would remain available to help implement the NDP.
“I have nowhere to go, no one wants me, so South Africa is stuck with me,” Manuel said to loud applause.
Manuel was speaking to a gathering of delegates at an ANC Progressive Business Forum breakfast in Mangaung.
