Cape Town - The plethora of pension funds catering for staff at municipal government level should be discussed and debated by the finance committee of parliament, Finance Minister Nhlanhla Nene said on Tuesday.
A member of the national assembly finance standing committee from the ANC asked why so many pension funds are vying for the attention of municipal civil servants.
This is unsustainable, MP Dr Makhosi Busisiwe Khoza suggested, as they are all run by boards of trustees, CEOs and chief financial officers which add to administrative expenses.
