A Fin24 user who calls himself concerned public servant says health services are a mess.
In response to a call to join the labour debate he writes:
Good day
Not only that provinces are full of the chief directors, they do not possess rightful qualifications, hence they can't run health services.
For example, no one in South Africa understands the importance of emergency medical and rescue services. It is short staffed, shifts run without supervisors and the so-called OSD is preventing luring skilled workers practitioners into it.
NWP was recently put under provincial admin due to incompetent administration managers.
The country has a new qualification meant to produce better workers but at this stage that training is on hold and even when they have trained you as an employee, the OSD policy does not provide an opportunity to retain such persons hence they leave public service for better opportunities.
It is a mess, and a vicious cycle.
Regards,
Concerned public servant
Terry Bell responds:
Good day to you too. I was very pleased to receive your mail. The situation is very grave and something certainly needs to be done. If you have any specific problems that need publicity, please feel free to pass them on to me and I will see what I can do. This is all information that belongs in the public domain and not enough of it is being aired.
I know about the problems with OSD and have some information on the situation in NWP, but was not aware of training for a new qualification had been put on hold. If you have more information about the qualification and the proposed training as well as when it was put on hold, please forward it.
