In a series of peaceful marches across the country Cosatu has lashed out at business leaders Sipho Pityana and Whitey Basson and among others called for the immediate scrapping of e-tolls.

The Chamber of Mines' Elize Strydom: We hear you. We will take this memorandum. I
will call the leaders and CEOs and we will respond to the memorandum.
Louisa Nxumalo, Cosatu's Limpopo
provincial organiser says the region had a "very
successful march with around 3 000 members" in attendance.
"We handed over our
memorandum, calling for a ban on labour brokering, the establishment of a
minimum wage, the total scrapping of e-tolls and the speedy implementation of
the National Health Insurance (NHI)."
He said Limpopo Premier Stan Mathabatha personally
accepted the document.
“It was a very peaceful
protest with no attempts of disruption. Generally in Cosatu we don’t have
incidences of violence. The crowd has dispersed and gone home.”

The ANC Women's League on Friday accused AngloGold Ashanti chairperson Sipho Pityana of
state capture and trying to affect a coup d'état through monopoly capital.
The AngloGold chairperson called on business leaders earlier this week to urge that President Jacob Zuma steps down. He said businesses and citizens “require courage” to “protect their
sovereignty” and must urge Zuma to quit before his term
ends in 2019.
