Johannesburg - South Africa’s consumer inflation slowed more than expected to 4.9% year-on-year (y/y) in July from 5.5% in June, Statistics South Africa said on Wednesday.
On a month-on-month basis, inflation ticked up to 0.3% compared with 0.2% in June but was still lower than economists’ expectations of 0.6%.
On a y/y basis economists had forecast CPI would slow to 5.2%.
