Implats: We have exhausted all options

Johannesburg - Impala Platinum has "exhausted all of its financial means" in its wage offer to striking workers, a spokesperson said on Tuesday, as government-led talks to end a crippling five-month stoppage collapsed on Monday.

"We have exhausted all of our financial means (in the wage offer). We have nothing more to give in order to bridge the gap between us and Amcu," Implats spokesperson Johan Theron told Reuters.

About 70 000 Amcu members downed tools in January at Anglo American Platinum [JSE:AMS], Impala Platinum [JSE:IMP] and Lonmin [JSE:LON].

Crucial talks facilitated by a government task team led by Minerals and Resources Minister Ngoako Ramatlhodi failed to bring an end to a five-month strike in the platinum sector.
