Johannesburg - The government has increased its salary offer
to public servants, according to a report on Wednesday.
Independent Labour Caucus spokesperson Chris Kloppers told
The New Age that the general pay offer had been upped from 6.5% to 6.7%.
"We would need to take the new offer back to our
members," Kloppers said.
Public servants had dropped their demand from 10% to 7.5%,
he said.
Public service and administration spokesperson Ndivhuwo
Mabaya declined to confirm this to The New Age.
The talks deadlocked in May, but newly-appointed Public
Service and Administration Minister Lindiwe Sisulu tried to revive them in
June.
The new talks deadlocked mid-month when the Independent Labour Caucus (ILC), representing 11 unions, declared a wage dispute.
