Gordhan invites tips on budget

Johannesburg - Finance Minister Pravin Gordhan has called on South Africans to send him tips on what they would like to see in the next budget, the ministry of finance said on Thursday.

"The budget tips campaign is run throughout the year and ensures active participation in government programmes, especially matters related to the economy," the ministry said in a statement.

Gordhan will present the 2012 budget to parliament on February 22 at 14:00.

The budget tips campaign was launched in 2001 under previous finance minister Trevor Manuel.

Tips can be sent via the National Treasury website at www.treasury.gov.za, faxed to 012 - 315 5126, or mailed to Private Bag X115, Pretoria 0001.

Gordhan also has a fan page on facebook where tips can be posted.
