Pretoria - The Cabinet on Thursday urged taxpayers to submit their individual returns for the 2014 season.
"Taxes enable government to fund the country's development plans," Communications Minister Faith Muthambi told reporters in Pretoria following Cabinet's fortnightly meeting on Wednesday.
The new tax season opened on July 1.
"Every taxpayer who
submits an accurate return on time plays their part in moving South
Africa forward," Cabinet said in a statement.
The SA Revenue Service (Sars) intends collecting nearly R1trn during the tax season.
It wil also pay particular attention on medical aid claims, retirement fund contributions, income protection policy contributions and taxpayers who submit revised returns for previous years.
