Molefe: There is a line between not doing maintenance at all and doing maintenance at all cost. We are continuously fine tuning for efficient maintenance and backlog maintenance as well as not load shedding. We will catch up with the backlog slower if we do not load shed, but we will catch up with the backlog any way.

Eskom official: Only thing that has changed between now and in the past, is that we are not putting too many units on maintenance and then having to use a lot of diesel to compensate.

Molefe: We are not issuing a bond in London - we just had a cup of tea with interested parties who -asked when we are coming back to the market. That showed us that there is some interest. But there is no deal at the moment.

Molefe: Bonuses are discussed in our annual report. No bonuses have been paid to executives for about 2 years. He was responding to a claim by AgriBusiness that Eskom has not revealed the bonuses for executives in the 2014/15 year.

Eskom executive for Generation Thava Govender: In terms of exporting power, SA belongs to a trading pool with eg Zimbabwe and Zambia. We supply power on a market scheme. When we do have problems in SA and go into load shedding we actually cut that supply off. We have an agreement on that and we will continue on that basis. We are being paid for what we supply.

Eskom official on the drought: The bigger problem is in Zambia where they rely on hydro power and the water level of the Zambezi River is impacted. In Zambia they now have to even have 24 hour load shedding sometimes due to the drought impact.
