No load shedding for Wednesday evening says Eskom

Eskom announced on Wednesday evening that it would not implement load shedding after power generation units were returned to service.

Earlier the power utility warned there was a high risk it would institute up to four hours of stage 2 load shedding between 17:00 and 21:00.

At 19:55 Eskom spokesperson Khulu Phasiwe tweeted that there would be no rotational power cuts.

"A few units were returned back to service ahead of, and during the evening peak, helping to stabilise the national grid and thus avoiding load shedding. Thank you for your efforts as well Mzansi, heeding the call to switch off non-essential appliances," he wrote.

SA experienced three hours of load shedding for the first time in a month on Tuesday evening.

Eskom has urged South Africans to keep planning is if load shedding will take place, and consult load shedding schedules.

Schedules can generally be found on the websites of municipalities. Customers who get their electricity directly from Eskom can find load shedding schedules on Eskom's website
