Cape Town - Eskom has broken its pattern of evening load shedding over the last week and implemented stage 1 load shedding on Thurday morning.
The power utility said in a tweet it "implemented stage 1 load shedding at 08:35 this morning, likely to continue until 22:00 tonight. We apologise for the inconvenience."

Eskom has kept load shedding to an evening activity in recent days, but the loss of additional generating capacity and the start of winter is putting pressure on the grid.
"The cooler weather conditions have put further pressure on an already constrained electricity grid," Eskom said in a statement.
