Eskom says low risk of load shedding

Cape Town - Eskom said on Tuesday there is a low risk of load shedding as the power system is currently relatively stable.

"Some of the generating units that experienced technical faults yesterday (Monday) are now back on stream, helping to stabilise the power system," the power utility said in a tweet.

Eskom said it would like to apologise for Monday evening's load shedding that was caused by technical faults on some of its power generating units.

"This was caused by technical faults on some of our power generation fleet, resulting in the shortage of about 1000MW.

"Some of the units, such as unit 1 of the Arnot power station, have been brought back on stream overnight."

Eskom implemented stage 1 load shedding late on Monday (17:38) due to the shortage of generating capacity.
