Cape Town - The Eskom crisis is not only bad for investor confidence, but also bad for "citizen confidence", according to economist Dr Iraj Abedian.
"Over the past five years a blend of political interference, technical problems, sheer incompetence and sheer abuse of the supply system have caused the operational side to deteriorate," said Abedian in an interview with News24Live on Friday.
Eskom chairperson Zola Tsotsi announced on Thursday that CEO Tshediso Matona has been suspended as well as three senior executives and a full independent inquiry is to be launched into Eskom. One of the current non-executive board members, Zethembe Khoza, will take over as interim CEO.
