Cape Town – After some hours of confusion following the announcement of the cabinet reshuffle it was made clear by the presidency on Monday that Sue van der Merwe has also been relieved of her position as deputy minister of International Relations and Cooperation.
The new deputy minister, Marius Fransman, replaces her, a presidential statement said on Monday.
"The Presidency wishes to clarify that the Department of International Relations and Cooperation still has two deputy ministers as before," the statement said. Adding that Fransman "is not a third deputy minister in that department".
Sources said that Van der Merwe asked to be relieved of her job.
