Business ready to help revive economy

Cape Town - The Black Business Council said it is prepared to join the task team to help resuscitate South Africa's sluggish economy, according to BDLive.

ANC secretary general Gwede Mantashe announced on Monday that a government committee resolved that a presidential task team should be set up to focus on the economy.

"The sluggish performance of the economy in job creation and the low levels of private sector investment were a source of major concern hence the proposed presidential task team," Mantashe  said.

The task team would focus on various sectors which included the mining sector, the contentious issue of fracking and the implementation of the National Development Plan.

BDLive reported that the Black Business Council is at the ready to assist government to meet its economic goals.

Black Business Council general secretary Sandile Zungu also reiterated a call for a ministry for small, medium-sized and micro enterprises.
