London - British finance minister George Osborne said on Wednesday that the government will cut the top rate of income tax to 45%, arguing that the current level of 50% was damaging the economy.
"From April next year, the top rate of tax will be 45 pence," Chancellor of the Exchequer Osborne told lawmakers, adding that the current 50-percent rate was higher than in France, Germany, Italy and the United States.
