Rustenburg - A group of striking Association of Mineworkers and Construction Union (Amcu) workers at the Anglo American Anglo Platinum [JSE:AMS] (Amplats) Khuseleka shaft one at Rustenburg marched to the shaft on Wednesday.
The group, waving sticks and singing struggle songs, went to the shaft after their brief meeting earlier.
The group sang, picked up and threw imaginary stones along the way.
Armed security guards closed the gate when they approached the shaft.
The marchers turned back and continued to sing.
Other workers were standing at the sports grounds waiting to be briefed about a meeting their leader held with the company.
Amcu members went on strike on Friday to protest against the retrenchment of 3 300 workers.
They have vowed to continue with the strike until their demand has been met.
