Act on corruption in E Cape - SACP

Johannesburg - The SA Communist Party in the Eastern Cape on Sunday called for action to be taken on forensic reports about corrupt activities in the province.

"We cannot continue to have the Kabuso report in Nelson Mandela Bay, Ernst & Young report in the Buffalo City and the Nelson Mandela memorial scandal hanging as a dark cloud in the movement," the organisation said in a statement.

"As long as there is no action on wrong doing, those in-actions do not represent the ANC-led alliance."

The organisation held its provincial working committee meeting in Bisho on Sunday.

It called on Public Protector Thuli Madonsela to release her findings in the investigation relating to the Nelson Mandela funeral fund scandal as soon as possible.

An investigation by the Hawks saw several high ranking municipal officials, including Buffalo City municipality mayor Zukiswa Ncitha implicated and arrested in the R90m irregular spending.

"The [Madonsela] report should be used as means to getting to the root of what had transpired and ensure accountability for all those who might have been found to have done wrong," the organisation said.
