Debt injury can worsen if not treated - expert

accreditation

Johannesburg - A debt expert has likened an over-indebted consumer to a sports person suffering an injury during a match.

"Suffering from a heavy debt burden can be compared to a sports person suffering an injury during a match. If they continue playing, they could worsen the injury, if they don't stop and seek professional help, they could potentially never recover from such an injury, says Rudi Bedeker of debt counselling firm DCM.

"If you are under heavy debt, and you don't seek professional help... you can actually just worsen your situation to such a point that you could possibly never recover."
