Cape Town - Carlson Rezidor has announced the opening of its 10th hotel in operation in South Africa, namely a new Radisson Blu Hotel & Residence in Cape Town.
Cape Town continues to attract more international travelers year-on-year, explained Marc Descrozaille, the Rezidor Hotel Group's area vice president for Africa and the Indian Ocean.
“Our 10th hotel opening in SA is another firm proof of our focus on expanding in Africa. Carlson Rezidor Hotel Group now has 34 hotels in operation and under development on the African continent. The Radisson Blu Hotel & Residence Cape Town is also our first mixed-use property in South Africa, made up of fully-fledged upper-upscale hotel apartments, showcasing the diversity of our designer portfolio,” said Descrozaille.
The hotel – according to the group currently the highest residential building in the Mother City - has won several awards for its architectural design. It is situated on the corner of Riebeeck and Long Street on Cape Town’s foreshore.
“The iconic design of the building pays homage to the Art Deco design language and the same design direction has been applied in the public areas and to an extent in the bedrooms. In conjunction with this style, inspiration was also drawn from the natural elements of the city," said Desmond O'Connor, general manager of the Radisson Blu Hotel & Residence Cape Town.
The hotel also offers an executive business lounge and a range of modern meeting and conference rooms, all featuring the latest technology and amenities.
* In the meantime, the group has also announced that the V&A Waterfront’s newly revamped Silo District will soon be home to Africa’s very first Radisson RED – a unique hotel culture inspired by all things art, music and fashion.
The hotel will open its doors in the third quarter of 2017.
According to Dale Simpson, curator of Radisson RED Hotel V&A Waterfront, Cape Town, the hotel will offer a unique take on modern hospitality.
“The V&A Waterfront, together with leading architects, has transformed six grain silos into modern sustainable spaces. We’re a city hotel for an ageless expressive crowd, and by occupying Silo Six, we’re right in the heart of the bustling Waterfront, amidst the city’s vibrant nightlife, only 25 minutes from Cape Town International Airport, and all the while boasting Instagram-worthy harbour and mountain views,” said Simpson.
Adding to the buzz will be the Zeitz Museum of Contemporary Art Africa (Zeitz MOCAA), set to open on 27 September.
