Cape Town - Carlson Rezidor, one of the ten largest hotel groups worldwide, announced launch of the Radisson Blu Le Vendome Hotel Cape Town on Monday.
The hotel, situated in Sea Point, has 143 rooms and is scheduled to open within the next six months.
Formerly known as Hotel Le Vendome, the property is undergoing renovation and refurbishment.
The Radisson Blu Le Vendome Hotel brings Carlson Rezidor’s strong portfolio in Cape Town to five hotels in operation and under development.
“All across the African continent we now operate and develop 53 hotels, and we will grow further. The emerging market of Africa is one of our most important regions for future business development,” said Wolfgang Neumann, president and CEO of Rezidor.
The owners of the hotel own properties and hotels across the UAE. On their behalf HE Khalaf Bin Ahmed Al Otaiba, said they are pleased to be investing in South Africa as this is a promising destination and a great opportunity that suits their business model.
"We have been eagerly anticipating the hotel’s conversion to Radisson Blu, and are delighted that the property now will bear the name of such a recognized global leader,” he said.
“South Africa is one of the few markets in Africa where we see real opportunity to convert existing hotels which are either independent or operated by competitor brands to either a Radisson Blu or Park Inn by Radisson,” said Andrew McLachlan, Carlson Rezidor’s vice president business development for Africa and Indian Ocean Islands.
