Former Goldman Sachs sub-Saharan Africa CEO Colin Coleman has been appointed independent non-executive director at the Foschini Group.
The retail group issued a notice to shareholders indicating that Coleman's appointment is effective as of Wednesday, January 22.
Coleman last year retired from the investment banking company Goldman Sachs, after 20 years. He was head of the Johannesburg office of Goldman Sachs since 2000, and became a partner in 2010, Fin24 previously reported.
He is currently a senior fellow and lecturer at the Jackson Institute for Global Affairs at Yale University in 2020.
Coleman has also previously served in executive roles at both Standard Bank and JP Morgan.
He was named one of the World Economic Forum's "Global Leaders for Tomorrow" and has received a number of accolades including Harvard Business School's 'Business Statesman Award'.
Coleman is currently on the steering committee of the CEO initiative and co-chairperson of the Youth Employment Service - a private-public partnership that aims to place one million young South Africans as interns in South African businesses.
