Cape Town - Beyers Realty Group has been placed under provisional liquidation by the Western Cape High Court in Cape Town on Tuesday.
A return date of November 8 2016 has been set by the court, Roux Potgieter of BM Attorneys, acting on behalf of four former estate agents of Beyers Realty, told Fin24. The applicants claim they are owed a total of about R430 000 in commission.
They brought the application to establish the full extent of possible misappropriation of the Beyers Realty trust account and hopefully enable the recovery of any misappropriated funds.
Potgieter said on the return date interested parties may oppose the application, failing which the court will most likely grant a final liquidation order.
Beyers Swanepoel-Trollip told Fin24 a few weeks ago that he was shocked to discover that about R6m "disappeared" from his trust account. He has laid fraud charges with the police to establish what had transpired.
Swanepoel-Trollip and his business partner and husband, Lenard, are the two directors of the company. According to Beyers Swanepoel-Trollip he was in charge of sales while Leonard handled the finances with a team of four.
Potgieter told Fin24 he has also been instructed to lay criminal charges against both the Swanepoel-Trollips in their personal capacities.

"We expect Thomas van Zyl of Mazars recovery services to take his formal appointment as liquidator during the next couple of days. He will be tasked with immediately taking control of all business affairs of Beyers Realty Group, including bank accounts and any other assets," said Potgieter.
"As soon as the liquidator has taken his formal appointment, he will be in communication with all known creditors of the estate agency in order to assist them in lodging their claims with him."
Following an in-depth investigation into a complaint via its whistle blower hotline, the Estate Agency Affairs Board (EAAB) last week succeeded in having a curator appointed for the trust account of Beyers Realty.
"We trust that the liquidator and curator will work together in order to recover as much funds as possible," said Potgieter.
The EAAB invited any member of the public with information in respect of the conduct of Beyers Realty Group and its members - to contact the board on 087 285 3222.
