Johannesburg - Estate agent Wendy Machanik was asked to surrender her passport when she appeared in the Commercial Crimes Court in Johannesburg on Friday.
She was granted bail of R25 000, the clerk of the court told I-Net Bridge.
The main charge against Machanik, Wendy Machanik Properties (WMP) and WMP's chief financial officer, Bruce Bernstein, was conspiracy to commit fraud. There were 119 charges in total, the court confirmed.
Bernstein was granted R5 000 bail and also asked to surrender his passport.
Machanik and Bernstein will appear again in court on April 15.
They have been accused of misappropriating about R25m from deposits belonging to clients that had been placed in a trust account.
Last month, WMP was declared provisionally insolvent following an application by Standard Bank.
High-profile liquidator Enver Motala has been appointed to investigate the matter with two other liquidators.
Machanik did not provide the Estate Agency Affairs Board with audit reports for WMP, and in January the board refused to issue her with a fidelity certificate.
