The chief executive of Impala Platinum's Rustenburg operations, Mark Munroe, has been granted bail of R60 000 after appearing in court on Friday morning, according to a company spokesperson.
Monroe was on Thursday arrested for allegedly contravening the nationwide lockdown regulations, after being summoned by the police to present himself to a police station.
Company spokesperson Johan Theron said Munroe appeared in the Bafokeng Magistrate's court.
He added that the charges are in connection with the call made by the company for employees to return to work earlier in the week.
Government on Thursday announced it had amended the lockdown regulations to allow mining companies to phase-in operations at reduced capacity.
Impala Platinum previously said some of its workers in the Rustenburg area were this week turned away by police as they attempted to return to work.
Implats said it would issue a statement with more information.
