Cape Town - The CEO of Harmony Gold Mining Company says the mine will hold talks with the government over the new draft mining charter.
On Friday the Mineral Resources Department published for comment reviewed Mining Charter, which seeks to compel mines to ensure that black people hold at least 26% of their shares even after those stakes were sold.
"Harmony takes note of the new draft mining charter," said Harmony boss Peter Steenkamp.
"We will actively participate in the discussions on the provisions of the new charter to ensure that the interests of all our stakeholders are protected."
Producers have 30 days to comment on the review and Mineral Resources Minister Mosebenzi Zwane will engage with the industry to get inputs on the draft.
