Johannesburg - South African police fired teargas on
Wednesday at a crowd of protesters in a township near a mine owned by Anglo
Platinum [JSE:AMS] near Rustenburg, the company said.
“I can confirm that the Saps (South African Police Service) used teargas to disperse an illegal gathering at Sondela informal settlement,” spokesperson Mpumi Sithole said in an email to Reuters.
