Mine brings hope to N West residents

Rustenburg - Residents of Ledig near Sun City in North West will benefit from the social and labour plans of Wesizwe's Bakubung Platinum mine, general manger Eddie Mohlabi said on Friday.

"The community expect to be better off by having this mine," he said.

"They expect employment and development of infrastructure."

Mohlabi said 3 155 houses for employees would be built as part of the social and labour plan.

The construction of the houses was expected to start in 2017.

The mine was expected to start production in 2018, and was expected to create employment opportunities for residents of Ledig and Phatsima.

The mine was expected to produce 350 000 ounces per year, Mohlabi said.
