Johannesburg – The rescue teams responsible for bringing nearly 500 miners to safety after a fire at a Harmony Gold [JSE:HAR] mine 75km west of Johannesburg were called lions for their bravery by Mineral Resources Minister Ngoako Ramatlhodi, who visited the site of the incident on Monday.
Rescue teams completed a 12-hour mission to safely bring to the surface 486 mineworkers trapped 2.3km underground by a fire at Kusasalethu Gold mine, near Carletonville on Sunday.
