Johannesburg – Gold exploration miner Giyani Gold made its debut on the Johannesburg Stock Exchange’s (JSE) AltX board on Wednesday.
“This listing will provide the company with an additional platform to raise capital for growth in addition to raising the company’s profile and investor base in the region," said president of Giyani Gold, Charles Allen in statement.
He said the listing will also facilitate BEE involvement in the company and that Southern African investors will benefit from the development of the region’s national resources.
The firm’s activities are currently focused in the Giyani region in Limpopo and in Ontario in Canada.
The company said it will separately list its Canadian exploration assets in Toronto.
"Despite challenging global conditions, the message that the JSE shares with companies with African assets is that there is capital in South Africa,” said Zeona Jacobs, director of issuer and investor relations at the JSE.
JSE CEO Nicky Newton-King added that South African investors are increasingly interested in exploration companies.
103 companies are listed on AltX and have a combined R14.5bn.
