Johannesburg - DRDGold [JSE:DRD] chief financial officer Francois van der Westhuizen has resigned, the company said on Monday.

"Francois van der Westhuizen (34) has, by agreement, relinquished his position with the company and resigned from the board with effect from Friday [July 18]," said spokesperson James Duncan.

He said Anthon Meyer (61), former CFO of Mintails, has agreed to a two-month interim appointment as CFO of DRDGold and will be appointed to the company's board of directors subject to the finalisation of various regulatory and administrative processes.

Van der Westhuizen was appointed chief financial officer in December 2013. He replaced Craig Barnes, who emigrated to Australia.

there we go again, one plot after the previous on.. How on earth can you become an CFO of such a big company being 34 years old. If you have an M-Degree and your army time you are already 25 years old with no experience whatsoever...

What army time. 20 years ago he was 14.

Poor statement - Craig Barnes was younger than 34 when he took over successfully before emigrating
