Johannesburg - The Association of Mineworkers and Construction Union (Amcu) is seeking pay hikes of more than double the wages received by entry-level workers in the gold mines, the union said in a submission to the chamber of mines.
The demands called for "the entry level minimum for all underground workers to be R12 500 across all mining houses," it said. This is well over double the current average minimum rate of around R5 000.
