The Fedsure Health medical aid scheme consists of more than 120 000 families, or 350 000 beneficiaries.
"We are delighted at having been chosen ahead of our competitors by the trustees and their advisors to administer this prestigious scheme. We are putting in a dedicated team to manage the take-on, so that none of our existing clients are impacted by the growth in members," said Medscheme CEO, Anton Roux.
Fedsure Health scheme chairman, Tom Borrill, added: "We chose Medscheme as the partner with the stability to handle our requirements, but also a dynamic management team to help us restore the fund to optimum solvency. We have financial guarantees in place, with a plan to manage the fund positively into the future. In addition, we foresee no problems for our loyal members during the transition period."
Medscheme will take over the administration of the Fedsure medical scheme in full on July 31, said Fedsure Health CE Dean Kowarski.
"We believe that the deal will end speculation, and bring reassurance to members, employers, healthcare providers and brokers," said Roux.
